Bead > About us

About us

Bead, the UK’s first beading magazine, was launched in 2006 to an amazing response.

Incredibly, sales of the magazine have grown and grown since then to exceed even our wildest expectations.

Subscriptions are still pouring in by the hundreds every month, sales through WH Smiths are still increasing, and more and more craft stores are stocking Bead. Sales of magazines through our US office are also booming, and we now boast subscribers all over the world, from New Zealand to Malawi, and South Africa to Japan.

We’ve had to add extra pages to recent issues to cope with the extra demand for ad space, and to fit in all more exciting projects and features.

Now we’ve added a digital version of the magazine to give subscribers even more benefits. The iMag is a digital copy of the printed version, which is sent to susbcribers by email every issue. You can either read it online, with a unique page-turning facility, or print out pages to read at your leisure.

The latest addition to the website is Beadmagazine.tv: Our online tv channel is devoted to your favourite hobby. Beadmagazine.tv is full of workshops and demonstrations you won’t want to miss.

You’ll find channels on everything from techniques to tools, from wirework to PMC.

The programmes are packed full of creative ideas and inspiration. Once you subscribe you can watch any programme at any time, however many times you want. Our presenters are all experts in their field, and will take you through all the stages of a project in easy steps. You’ll find plenty to enjoy whether you’re an advanced beader or just starting out.New programmes are being added every week, so you can take a workshop in your home every day of the week. And all of our programmes are DVD quality so you can watch them at full-screen. It’s just like watching the TV. So don't miss out on the new channel that everyone's talking about. Beading has never been so easy, and never been so much fun.

Our website, which attracts thousands of hits every week, also now lists bead shops and suppliers in a special guide aimed at promoting UK beading around the world.

Here at Bead magazine we’ve even launched our own show, at Sandown exhibiton centre in Surrey. The first event on December 1 was amazingly successful, with thousands of eager beaders attending.

Bead magazine is run by Ashdown, who have been running successful hobby magazines for more than 25 years.
